Can I get paid if I bring a tenant to a rental property?

I'm new to Florida (tampa region) and trying to find different ways to build a reputation. Social media accounts are established, we have not yet set up direct mail yet, and may be setting a kiosk up at the UTC & International Malls.

I have been contacted by several people looking to rent properties and I am wondering if I can receive compensation by bringing a potential tenant to a property and assisting them with signing the lease paperwork. Is this possible, legal, acceptable, or do most landlords decline the opportunity?

Thank you - appreciate all the information possible.

It depends on if you're a licensed realtor or not. Under Florida law, a landlord cannot give more than $50 to an unlicensed individual for a tenant referral. Period.
