How to find a broker to work under in Philadelphia?
I just completed my 60 hour course to become an agent and have passed the online test, the next step is taking the PA proctored exam. Before I can do that, I need a Broker to work under. I know a few agents and I'm sure if I were looking to be a typical agent I'd have no problem finding a broker, however, I'm more interested in my own deals. I want to be able to get in first, buy for myself, etc. I doubt I'd ever list my own properties as I wouldn't be as responsive as a (good) full-time agent that was available during the day.
How do you find a broker that works with part-time agents that are also investors? Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
I'd like to know as well! @Troy S. what did you think of the course? Where did you take it? I'm interested in getting my license for the exact reasons you are.

contact a few and interview with them. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how many are going to want to work with you.
Great luck, I wish we had online classes in NJ.

I work part time as an agent, invest in my own properties, wholesale, and work a full time job at Septa. I'm a kw agent out of Brynn Mawr.
As long as you're paying your monthly fees and abiding by the pa real estate laws. Your your own boss.

yes i have a family. It's hard I just do, it's something I really want so I make time for it. No simple way to explain it.

Mark - For Pennsylvania, I've found that Real Estate Express is a great option for taking the required classes, tests, etc. The course is extremely well organized and clear as to your progress in getting your license. Hope this helps.
@Mark Redmann: Temple University also has a great real estate course online and in person. I took two online courses for a total cost of about 440.00 and I also found the courses very useful

Like James Wise mentioned above. Start calling around and getting to know how they operate, commission splits, what fees they require, learn what they will supply you with and what you're responsible for on your own. I will say being with KW, the training they provide is outstanding. It's funny how the classes kind of have nothing to do with actually performing operations as an agent. PM me if you want more info, I'd be glad to help. Good luck!
