Fresh on the real estate scene

This is the first step to financial freedom for my family and myself. For months now I have been on bigger pockets with no profile picture and not a single post just simply readings others post wishing I could be them. I kept contemplating and procrastinating on what picture to use and what my first post should be. I kept telling myself “I’ll take a picture when I cut my hair or my beard and I look more professional”. Long story short I was trying to create the perfect bigger pockets profile but, when it comes down to it that is not possible when you don’t have any experience on the app or in the real estate game.

Furthermore, I am 22 year old college senior working on my final semester of college in Atlanta, Georgia. I love college and I love to learn but with that being said I realize that I can’t build wealth with my degree and that is what I want to achieve. I am constantly hard at work learning the real estate game but the one thing that sticks out to me is that I can only read or watch so much and I am not going to get my real experience until I acquire my first property. My biggest hold up at the moment is that I don’t know whether or not to get my real estate license or just strictly focus on investing? My thinking is that becoming a agent will help me acquire the amount of money I need to start investing. Although, I hear a lot of podcasts, books, and gurus talk about not using their own money. Truthfully I might just have paralysis analysis but in my mind I need help and guidance to not just get my feet but to take a deep dive into the real estate world which is truly my passion.

Hey Chandler! I am in almost the same position as you, I graduated from WVU in May and I have recently started exploring the world of real estate investing. I have always had a strong interest for real estate, and have recently decided to stop procrastinating my entry into real estate investing. I have little experience with real estate, but I did purchase my first home with my fiancé back in October, which gave me my first experience with the industry.

I can't offer much advice as of yet, but I can recommend a great book. "The Book on Real Estate Investing" by Brandon Turner has been HUGE in my focus, understanding, and my determination to succeed in this daunting industry.

Also, being in a similar situation, please don't hesitate to reach out to talk about any ideas or concepts you may come across. I feel that bouncing ideas off of friends and my fiancé usually helps (even though she doesn't always understand what I am talking about lol). Good luck!
