How did you get started in real estate?

I'm currently reading, "The book on Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Turner, and the 3rd chapter gives out a set of sample plans to start with. The sample plans included, "How to make $1 million through rental properties," "Building wealth through single-family homes," 'How to make $100,000 through BRRRR strategy," and "House Hacking." I'm just curious about if any of you guys that have read the book utilized one of these methods. As well as just curious on how you got started and what was your big "WHY?"

@Evan Dyer got start using BRRRR back in 2012 and haven't looked back. I love how you can use the same cash to compound one deal into the next and grow even if you just do 1 or a few projects a year. Happy to discuss.
