Does wholesaling have a bad rep?

Hello everyone. I am new to BP. I am very eager to start investing in real estate. Wholesaling caught my attention, but seems to have bad rep. Is this true? Should I get a real estate license? I would like some input on how to start.

yes in the industry it has a very bad reputation.  

and its far easier said than done. thats for darn sure.
