Need roofing repair by an expert or anybody do it yourself?

Need a couple of roofing repairs done and do not know if I actually need a roofer to do it.  Has anybody ever attempted pretty simple roofing repairs themselves?  Or, do you know of a link to a good website that shows me how?  Or, can somebody suggest a roofer in the Houston Galveston Texas area that gives investors a fair price?   I do about 4 or 5 houses a year and most need new roofs!

Actually the instructions are on a bundle of shingles. Thats how I learned and then became a pretty accomplished roofer. What they wont tell you on the bundle is your specific code. Houston needs hurricane code and Galveston county adopted a pseudo Miami Dade type code right after Ike. Fair warning, the inspector in Galveston is a bear I hear.

I have never met him though and he may be a nice guy. 

I would ask around at the McCoys either in Galveston or Houston and get referrals. I would rather have one insured than not. If they mess up you have recourse. If I was younger I would come and do it for you but my knees wouldnt hold out.
