Investing Student: Learning in all Categories

Josh Hickman
Posted
Hello everybody on BP! My name is Josh Hickman and I am a senior in High School. My educational goal is to get a BS in Mechanical engineering and an MBA, then go back and get a Physics degree. That being said, I lack the funds for this aggressive approach at education, since college is so expensive nowadays!! Anyway, I decided to look for ways to increase my positive cash flow, besides being an employee. I Researched, Read, and listened to podcasts which eventually lead me here!! I am extremely interested in real estate investing and I am excited to get started and start learning and growing. I think the best beginner approach for me is the BRRRR strategy, which I will be doing with my business partner, a buddy of mine, Troy. Feel free to give me tips: including things that most people only learn through failures, what to do and not to do, tips on communication and networking, and anything else. And please feel free to contact me. I am very excited to learn and grow larger as a real estate investor. Ecstatic to be a part of this forum!

Josh Hickman alright a lot going on here. As someone who studied mechanical engineering my first suggestion would be not to get a physics degree or an mba. Maybe an mba down the road in your late 20s or thirties but not anytime soon.

Second physics is useful for those who really want to do research or academia or get s PhD. You don’t need both physics and mechanical engineering degrees.

Secondly how do you plan to pay for school? Real estate investing 99 percent of the time takes some money. It can take a little but it still requires some. I would focus on school before real estate.
