New investor in San Diego closing in on my first property

Hello everyone my name is Ann-Marie! I have been on Bigger pockets very often and have listened to every podcast about twice! I don't know why it took me so long to write my intro post but I guess its better late than ever. I have been actively educating myself for the last year and a half on REI. Along with that I am also in the process of getting my real estate license. The reason first started with educational purposes but now I see myself emerging myself in the industry entirely.

Right now I am in the process of buying my Grandfathers house. After he passed away my family longer wants the property anymore and I am looking to take it over. I plan on living in the property and renting out the other units. The house is 5 minutes from downtown San Diego which I know makes it a great location. My goal is to get everything situated by the next couple of months.

Long term I want to make REI a full time thing and am excited to get started. I do also know that I do not know everything and I still have many questions. If anyone in the SAN DIEGO or Southern CA area knows of any good meetups/events besides the ones advertised on bigger pockets or any on bigger pockets that they would recommend I would greatly appreciate it. I really want to know what is going on in the SD Market. I am always seeking greater knowledge and looking to connecting with people. Once again Hello everyone and I'm excited to be here!

@Ann-Marie Vargas Sorry about your grandfather's passing. Congrats on entering into REI.

As for Meetups. Meetup.com has numberous REI meetup groups. Search for real estate. Pick the one that is most convenient. If it is not what you are looking for then go to the next one on the list. I suspect you will find one that works for you.

Some San Diego BP members (@Kevin Fox, @Justin R., etc) have an on-site meetup close to monthly.  I have been to a few (maybe 5 or 6) and have found each to be worth my time.  I learn something and enjoy the network opportunity.  I have found most of the best networking happens at the end.

Good luck
