Just starting do I need a website?

I just starting out (again) into RE investings and starting of with a direct mail campaign using post cards. How important is having a website to start off and how "advanced" does it need to be? In my marketing plan I do intend to use my website for lead generation/SEO but I don't want to wait until I get the website going until I start my mail campaign. I would think a very basic site describing what I do and introducing myself (along will fillable pages/forms) and in a couple months going with something more elaborate (functional). Any thoughts?

Doug

You will get a higher response rate with both a landing page with a fillable form to capture leads, in conjunction with your number. The answer depends on the speed you can get a simple, professional website with basic information and a fillable form to capture customer data. If you can execute this in a month, then do it first. If you don't have the skillset or if it'll take you several months, it's perfectly fine doing DM without a URL. In fact, if you're targeting older folks with high equity, it doesn't matter nearly as much. It depends on the demographic that you're targeting. In general younger people are more tech savvy and prefer to go visit your website whereas older homeowners prefer to just call the number.

Just don't use it as an excuse not to act. There's always ways to increase response and conversions, but remember 20/80 rule. Better to shoot at the general target and adjust, rather than waiting to take the perfect shot and missing the opportunity.
