out of state Realtors - MLS access?

Hey!

Do realtors have MLS access for the entire country or just the area they operate in? Just wondering if we know a realtor in California but want to look at houses in NC, would they have access?

Thanks!

@Jared Burnett  Totally local, but Realtor.com pulls from all MLSs as far as I know if you want a site that would work anywhere.  Were you hoping to use your friend in CA to help you buy here?  You would be better off letting him make a referral to a local agent.  Then he would get a percentage for making the into, but he would not be involved in the transaction.
