Everytime I unplug anything on this one circuit it trips the GFI. Was going one for months. Now suddenly the GFI is humming. The circuit is not overloaded. Any thoughts?

I think I need to provide a washer/dryer hookup for my tenant but I am scared of the damage to the hardwood floors underneath. Is there any way to prevent damage from a leaking or overflowing washer?
