Hey @Chi Lo - I actually have a video on my YouTube page about this (lookup ClosedByMo on YouTube).Regarding walls being damp and waterproofed, it means there needs to be waterproofing on the basement retainer walls (this is something you can do post-construction and the contractors would need to dig around the house exposing the basement/foundation to apply the waterproofing). 

If they've genuinely abandoned, you'll notice their clothing, personal hygiene, and things of value are all gone.

Some people are sending supplies (clothes, other needed items like school supplies, food for humans and pets, etc). 

Anything the size of a plastic wall anchor or smaller, you should be hitting it with lightweight spackle and use a damp sponge, not a sanding sponge, to take off the excess.

PS  flying to DCA today LOL  looks like I will make it had to pull all my warm cloths out of my closet.

You can make minor adjustments based on the type of appliances (dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, air conditioning, etc.) and the size of the rental.

It can be like the clothes nobody wanted at the dollar store, it wasn't going to be great to begin with and what was usable in some way is already gone.

Clothing- buy at the second hand store.  

They can get a gas dryer and then have means to dry their clothes.
