I grew up in that area, and it's not great - declining population, stagnant economy that relies on 1 major employer (Caterpillar).

GE Engine Services and Caterpillar, Inc. both recently received tax abatements and plan to add 41 and 100 jobs, respectively.

But I can tell you Sedalia is a very oil driven manufacturing center between caterpillar, Waterloo, Maxion, and Gardner Denver I would definitely expect housing demands to increase over the next several years because of Trumps policies.

While Caterpillar, Raytheon, and Amazon have garnered much attention as they start or expand operations in Tucson, less attention has been given to companies like Vector Space Systems, Home Goods, Hexagon Mining, Comcast and Ernst & Young which collectively will bring 2,500 jobs and over $1.5 billion of economic impact to the local economy.

There is a little headline risk with Caterpillar, but if I was looking to invest in inexpensive homes, I would at least look.
