After reading a few books (one of them being "Rich Dad Poor Dad" ofcourse) the idea of switching to a job to learn instead of working solely for money seemed interesting.

I had no idea that I had a solid birch floor on my hands until after the job was done.  

There are a lot of groups that you can get involved with in terms of investing; @David Torres runs a group on Wednesday nights that you'll want to attend as he does a great job.  

To answer your question, the area is already pretty established, it does not have much room for improvement.

There were portions that I liked and portions that I thought could be improved upon.I believe that group cohesiveness and openness are two keys to creating the best environment for people to interact whether they be someone new to REI, like myself, or the most experienced member of a meetup.I am curious...What in your opinion makes for the most optimal meetup?

If the house is old and you haven't done repairs, chances are its just the spackle drying up, someone did a crappy job at sanding it. 

That will improve your credibility too with whoever you're working with and show them that you know what you're talking about.
