What makes for a great meetup?

Hey, everyone!

I am just starting my journey into REI. As with most who catch the bug, my mind seems to be completely consumed with thoughts dealing with this common bond that brings us all together.

I was thinking earlier about my first experiences with REI meetups. There were portions that I liked and portions that I thought could be improved upon.

I believe that group cohesiveness and openness are two keys to creating the best environment for people to interact whether they be someone new to REI, like myself, or the most experienced member of a meetup.

I am curious...What in your opinion makes for the most optimal meetup?

  • Is it group size?
  • A certain type of guest speaker?
  • Proper introductions?
  • Organized or free flow structure?

A goal of mine is to organize a meetup for investors in my area. Providing a space that fosters growth and for a greater sense of community within my local REI market. For those who might be curious, I live in Southeastern PA, just outside of Philadelphia.

Let me know what you think!
