Also feel like my agent should have known about the potential for such delay ahead of time. 

Sell it at a loss, you are further ahead moving on as opposed to continuing to carry the cost.

By having the list it helps you look ahead too so you ca schedule your trades with enough warning that you aren't waiting between trades (usually).
