General Hard Money/Private Lending Advice

Interested in possibly lending some money out as a private or hard money lender. Other than working with my attourney to ensure that I am protected, please offer some general advice and information. What are the going rates for each type of loan? What kind of terms do you see? How and where do you connect with low risk clients? What are the actual returns that people see? Any horror stories? Thanks in advance.
