Further, with generally declining interest rates over the last 40 years, lenders had little incentive to accelerate a loan with a higher than market internet rate, as they’d have to reinvest that money at a lower rate.

The range I have seen range from -2.5% to 11%. zillow 11%, Fannie Mae 7.9%, Freddie Mac 7%, Redfin 3%,  Realtor.com 2.9%, CoreLogic 2.5%. and Mortgage Bankers Association's forecast model projects a 2.5% decline

With the price of solar continuing to decline, and with energy storage capacity rocketing upwards thanks to wise changes to the NEM rule, it is certainly possible that long term contracts for solar will end up being the most expensive way to procure clean kilowatt hours.
