I've had a condo where the condo board was horrible and spent money like it grew on trees on things that didn't need to be done and others where they were really good, made a budget and stuck to it doing major renos with no extra fees.If you can, I'd look into a single family home.

In my experience kids are more distructive than pets and nobody collects a kid fee.
