Posting for my father, George Rasch, who does not know what an internet forum is and I couldn't ask for a better father and mentor.

My father and I are handy and have almost finished the basement, adding another bed, bath, and living space.

I paid for the conversion with a 20K personal loan at 10% for 10 years from my Father (my own father, gouging me at 10% interest).

A little synopsis of how we got where we are:  Back in the mid 1990's my father and I started looking for someone to lease out a commercial property that was wholly owned by us as a family (I had spent a good deal of my teenage and young adult life paying off the bank loan).  

What got me interested in real estate is that my father began investing in commercial real estate a few years ago and after seeing his success I am ready to jump in and get started.

I have 18 year kids asking me to help them find a duplex with an FHA loan. 9 years ago when I was 18, I had no clue as to what that was (and my father was in real estate - honestly wish i knew lol).

I personally would likely not be here if I didn’t have my father to raise me when my mother became too disabled to take care of herself or kids.

I feel like too many people here are old school and are too stubborn to ask for help, or they are so deep routed in their father's friend or their uncle who got burned in real estate that no one looks into it.

To my knowledge, that is not required in Missouri, but then again I haven't built any 4 plexes lately, just rehabbed some that might be grand fathered in. 

Son murdered his father in the living room and then killed himself.
