@William Behm my suggestion to you would be to engage services of knowledgeable CPA such as @Nathaniel Busch instead of DYI or trying to get answer on the forum. 

Be sure to be as active and engaging as possible.

In some states the law restricts what real estate activities you are allowed to engage in without a license.

I don't see how you can have industry experts speak that also don't own companies that are engaged in the subject they speak on.Sounds like what you would like is better networking at those events.
