Like Jay said, make it a charitable venture for the year (your time and effort) - absolutely nothing wrong with that and you would get kudos in my book.

Hello all,I am new to the investing world I have read books, joined investor groups in my area 757 but at the moment I feel like i am stuck my plan is to rehab then eventually move into rentals to establish wealth i would like to rehab my first property with in 6mos. i was told i can’t start rehabbing unless i have a LLC then i was told just get a check first and worry about the LLC later if anyone have any info or advice iI would love to hear from you

It's a great starter book and will make you know more than 90% of other investors.  

If you don't mind, I'm going to share with you a step-by-step guide that commercial brokers in NYC like myself would use:1) Check market demands: Before anything, you'd need to find sales and rentals reports for your neighborhood and check the current inventory.

Don't know if your state uses lawyers or escrows, but find a reputable person that can and will guide you through the deal. 

We are looking for someone to help guide us in estimating rehab costs and hopefully we can begin to work together once we feel that we have an adequate understanding of those costs.

Luckily I have a friend who does design/build for restaurants to help at least guide me on the basic steps for the renovation so I am not flying entirely blind there.
