Seeing as how frozen pipes aren't a real concern for atleast 6-9 months (if at all in your area), I don't think you have much to lose by letting her work on her own for as long as she needs to to get the heat back on.

I set about making criteria for myself, such as brick houses (we didn't want to paint every few years), warm locations (didn't want to have pipes break during vacancies), at least 3 beds and 2 baths, near an Air Force base and so forth.
