@Joe Splitrock when a house is in foreclosure the bank won't accept less than full amount to reinstate the loan, so yes, an owner can accept rents, keep them, and is breaking no laws.

@Nina Ning not Zillow but Opendoor, they need to have the same disclosures but they often don't know a lot of the time, the upsides are they have no emotional attachment to the home and holding costs really hurt them so you can get under list offers accepted especially for homes that have spent a lot of time on the market.
