However, the requirements we put on our teachers these days are not conducive to raise and support a family so I am re-entering the workforce in the real estate market.

We would like to replace my wife's salary in the next few years with passive cash flow so she can raise our kids full time.

We loved it because great neighborhood and 2600 sq ft (later extended to 4000) in which to raise kids (and all their friends). 

Right now the rental market is so strong that if I do buy in a city that charges it, I will have no problem raising the rates and passing the cost on to the renter.
