As long as your trip is primarily for your rental activity, you can add a ­vacation to the end of the trip, make a side trip purely for fun, or even enjoy evenings doing vacation activates, and still deduct your entire airfare, rental car, or standard mileage rate if using your own car.

Seems to me the big takeaway here is this was never an issue of a misunderstanding of the law, or an accidental indiscretion...this was purely an intent by the Schober's to commit fraud.

My other tenants pay by money order...there is one that I take checks from but that is purely because of her payment history and her son and mine are best friends!

The answer to this question is purely based on the level of the rental unit.

Unfortunately its not a pure scam, so you have to work through the process.

Unfortunately sometimes it's just part of the learning process and pure luck (or the lack of).

And our 1940's galvanized pipes, esp. hot water, were, well, almost solid :) So the kitchen sink and dishwasher would not really get hot water anymore until those pipes were replaced.If it was a pure rental, I would probably forgo the tankless version unless you have a higher agenda of creating more space.

Other investors buy the large old 10k, pure Section 8 houses with lots of BRs, they obviously require a ton of time to manage effectively.
