The vast majority of insurance people out there do not understand this because the majority of them are not active investors themselves and because of this, provide incorrect information and either inferior products and in many cases, based on my experience, the absolutely incorrect product altogether.

My first property was a 4 flat (sorry for some reason that's what we call a 4 unit building in Chicago), but since then it has been condos, townhomes and SFH's.

Two years ago I purchased a duplex (2-family flat) for rental purposes that is connected via a wall to a 4-unit that has been vacant that past 2 years, and apparently many more years prior to me acquiring my property.
