Alamogordo N.M. has a Military base close by and a Casino in town, the town is nearly dead in spite of both.

First, this is my status, I owned a single-unit with almost 40k of equity, 20k in savings accounts and 12k in TSP ( military retirement plan) and 6k in mutual funds.

I know I need to be patient as I am still in the education phase but any pointer would be much appreciated. 

I live far beyond my means and budget like crazy and plan on buying rental properties throughout my military career using my VA Loan.My main thing is where to I start with preparation and what will set me up for success in the long term.

So is if anyone here has had this happen or deals with flood claims and can give us an idea of how much money we will be paid for the demo, cleanup and other phases any advice would be awesome.
