But now that you've drastically lowered the basis of the new syndications that you're invested in and have harvested all of your passive losses with little to none of it being carried forward, what will the tax implications be as the investments mature and you exit the deals, presumably at a decent profit?

A zombie lien is typically a 2nd mortgage that was written off the bank for accounting purposes so they stopped collection efforts BUT the borrower still owes that money. typically a zombie lien stops accruing interest once it is written off (because they stop sending statements).If it matures in 2025 it also has statute of limitations, so that money is going to be owed and you will not get clean title unless its paid off.

I am curious about loan structures for this property type.I have mainly been using 12-15 year loan terms (amortized over 12-15 years, no balloon) with 7% interest in my underwritingI have only spoke with hard money lenders, so am not too familiar with my options for traditional financing.Can I use conventional 20-30 year financing for this property type or am I stuck in the commercial loan category with shorter terms or balloon payments when the loan matures?
