Swallow and pay every dime they earn to live a restricted (since '06: never go out, no travel, no vacations, no gift giving at holidays, drive old cars, buy used clothes, etc.) life for the next ten or fifteen years, fearing job loss or pay cut daily, only to find out at retirement that I have to walk away from it then, can't sell it, perhaps have to file bankruptcy, then, and live in government housing for my retirement...?

This is my first off-topic thread (I think) and I am starting it because I think it has a valuable lesson for newbie BP members who want to make it big.As you guys know, I travel a lot internationally and, as a result, have to go through security-check and immigration at airports throughout the world.

I think you get the idea.Then again, you may find somebody who's married with young children who would WANT to work weekends in order to have some weekdays off (my sister and brother-in-law fit this bill).Finally, I would suggest the more you can nail down the schedule/hours of service, the more likely you'll be able to make this a salaried position with bonuses, etc.

I know normally it is advised not to do this, but we do plan on moving back soon.My idea was to take a leave of absence from my job, travel back home, purchase a rehab property with a hardmoney lender, and sell the property back to myself.

Make sure you have full authority to approve all work and activities.If you already own the property, renting might be OK, tourist areas can have very tricky economies if travel/vacations slow down.
