Presumably your GC is well versed in new construction, and if he's doing three new builds for you, I can't imagine he'd mind walking you through the day-to-day process.Just make sure you're on-site everyday, get involved in the site planning, the engineering, the design and all the preliminary activities, and then be on site everyday asking questions.Do this for an entire project, and you should be pretty well versed in the process from beginning to end.

An example: I obtained preliminary approval to split a lot but the City would not grant final approval until the existing house was removed.
