I do not think a mortgage holder can stop you from selling your property unless you get a special discount or sign an agreement about it. 

First off is it possible to short an estate property since the mortgage holder is now deceased.

Here, any certificate(lien) holder who wants to foreclose, to collect their money, has to first pay off all the other certificate holders.

I had one main lease holder and everyone else are sub-lessees.

The county doesn't fail to record the payoff...they file what they get to record from the lien holder. 

And somebody also said that in DC, the tax lien holder doesnt have priority to other liens?

Gotta love all those odd details in New Britain like the tub faucet coming out in the middle of the tub and the TP holder on the vanity door.  

Is there a way I can pursue these properties before they go to auction or try to contact the mortgage holder to see if they would entertain me taking over the payments?
