I hope I'm wrong, but then like you said, this would be a good thing if we are poised to buy in a downturn.I think the most applicable scenario for me is during the refi process, if the value goes down the bank might not be able to lend as much as I need (since I've only owned the house for 9 months and have little equity in it).
