He is friends with one of the neighbors on the block that knows he is a real estate investor.  2 deals were dealt his way and he bought them both. 

It sucks that the view to the back yard is blocked (permanently) by the blinds at the moment. 

Sometimes either the drain valve (on the side near the bottom) or the temperature/pressure relief valve (either on the top, or on the side near the top) starts leaking, and $20 at the hardware store solves that problem.If it doesn't leak, but doesn't get hot: if it's gas, and has a pilot light, sometimes the thermocouple burns out; this is a $20 part at the hardware store. 

It seems almost no flips are being done here, even though some houses are old, well-built, spacious on well-kept blocks with no crime and established neighboorhoods.

Just asking because it can be a mentally draining process if you don't know where to start. 

Those types of things are a drain on the City's resources and I would think they'd be open to it if it were a new owner who was going to take care of the property.
