We made some good progress early on demo, and picking the material etc... and then realized how much more time the fine details and finishing touches took.

Reach out to your insurance company as detailed by @Jay @Jay Hinrichs to get this issue resolved asap. 

The Devil is in the syndication's details and the purchase price and details of the deal. 

However, nothing can be done until they mail you a Demand Letter specifying what is owed, and giving you a certain amount of time to pay the balance owed as detailed in the letter.

For a small one I would do a detailed assessment of the immediate repairs and of things that may break in the near future.

But I saw opportunity in it as an investment property and she was interested in using the home a a long-term rental, not Airbnb.Fast forward to a week ago, the owner reached out to me after very spotty communication through emails and we finally met to talk about details of the rental idea.

Reviewing closing cost details, I'm not following why I am paying 11 months of property taxes upfront AND as a monthly escrow payment (along with homeowner's insurance).
