I learned to cook because the foods I liked are expensive in restaurants.

As stated above, except for any food or drink you order there is no charge to attend.

I was in food a long time ago before getting into commercial rel estate.

Maybe it's planning a trip to see the in-laws that you hate, maybe it's doing the cooking for a month, or repainting the fence in the back yard you've been telling her you would get around to for the past two years. 

The owner buying materials .............is this the same guy that brings his steak to a restaurant and asks them to cook it ?  

Many agents never "get it" and spend their whole life eking out a living when it's pretty simple (simple but not easy) if you follow the cook book.
