The parcels are color coded  depending on things like "on the state inventory" or "on the list for this year's auction" and "went through prior auction and investor owned" and similar things.

In old houses, generally the white colored paint had high lead.

But for your living space, you may want nicer finishes and weird colors (this is were I get into trouble.)

I am working on setting up systems with the flips where everything is pretty similar on each project......Same paint colors, appliances, flooring etc for each house...I have one person who I can fully trust to act as a project manager to deal with contractors and can be on site when I am out of town.....I would like to scale the flip business and I plan on getting my wife involved in the business by the end of the year.....I can probably handle 4 flips a year by myself but to do more than that I would either have to go full time into RE or get my wife up to speed on the process.......

I do color post cards with pictures, and color brochures to help sell listings.

I have done many glass block windows which are insulated, come in many designs and colors and let the light in and adds to the value. 

However, if carpet is appropriate, we use a commercial grade carpet and the color consistence and durability is excellent.
