Has anyone ever considered taking down the divider in duplexes?

It just sounds like a cool Idea. I dont really know how it could be advantageous besides a creative exit strategy to force appreciation. But how would the zoning, taxes work out? anyone know?

I don't think there's a definite good or bad answer. A lot depends on your values. In higher priced areas SFH are worth more than duplexes, so in that case, it could benefit, if you're trying to sell.

In lower priced areas, you will find more landlords, who see the value of the double rental income as more beneficial than the value of a sfr.

I'm about to renovate a duplex, but will add a door in between the 2 hallways, that can be locked or stay open. I'm going to use both units for airbnb, but will also offer it as one bigger units for bigger groups. It'll have 2 kitchens, but ...eh..
