I see that the carpets cleaning is being ignored, there are many stains all over, the paint on the walls are starting to wear with kids marking and drawing several places. 

I now live in a normal house that still meets my needs and I freed up quite a lot of money by doing so like you are describing.But if this new house doesn't have a 2nd bathroom and you really need one due to your kids, you will hate that and be kicking yourself later. 

Biting the hand that feeds you is something we learn is dumb to do as kids and is true until the day we die. 

@Selina M Stone  Not knowing your finances, I'll just give you two general suggestions I've given my own adult kids when they were starting out

In my experience kids are more distructive than pets and nobody collects a kid fee.

We have two little kids and we are at a point where we need to take the leap into real estate in the hopes that in a few years I can take a step back from my job to be a bigger part of our kids lives.

As a kid I remember my mom buying her first house in her late thirties after many years of renting.

Im getting married and a couple kids will be on the way in the next 3-5 years so I am inclined to finance a deal now to take action however I don’t want to be more risky than necessary.
