He is current on everything else; zero credit cards, no car loans, etc.and got good ref's from his previous landlord.I remember hearing in a seminar that Student debt is the hardest to correct and rebuild credit - any advice out there?

Depends on area.. why they went vacant in PHX and Vegas was that the construction industry came to a dead halt and half the renters worked in the trades and they ended up leaving all together to look for work elsewhere.Also PHX had double whammy if you recall the politics at the time in PHX  were booting Hispanics that did not have green card out of the country...

I later realized this is part of the sales pitch.We were told to contact our credit card company to request an increase in the credit line.They made it sound like their program was very exclusive and not everyone is admitted.
