Free books and audio books
Hey everybody!
Background: My name is Stephen McCauley. I'm brand spanking new to bigger pockets forums and the website itself but I've been listening to the podcast 2-6 times a day for the last 3-4 weeks. On a large number of the podcasts I have consistently heard either Brandon, Josh or the guest say something about buying a book or audio book. As a beginner getting that many books can seem daunting and expensive. So I wanted to help in the only way I can right now and offer a money saving tip.
My Quick Tip:
There is an app called Overdrive that links to the public library system.... every county's public library system in fact. I have read and listened to countless books without having to spend a dime.
How it Works:
Download the OverDrive app. Once prompted you'll have to decide what county you want to "check out" books from. If you don't have a library card don't worry! There are counties that offer an instant online library card number. Once you go through all of the prompts you can then search or browse for FREE books and audio books. The only downside is that like a brick and mortar library, there is limited availability so there will likely be times that you'll have to wait your turn.
I hope this helps anyone looking for an inexpensive education.
- Stephen

Hi @Stephen McCauley, thanks for posting this information. I use the Overdrive app. with my local library, and it is an amazing way to get a lot of books for absolutely NO cost. I also use other resources at the library for research, checkout instructional DVD's and some older audio books on CD. Good stuff!

Glad to know there's others out there taking advantage of such a great resource!

Add Hoopla to that list. Public libraries allow you to use it for free, plenty of ebooks and audio books you can borrow.

Thats actually pretty cool and I'm downloading it now. Gotta say though, limited availability on a digital copy is mighty silly.

Travis, I COMPLETELY agree. I don't understand it either. The only thing I can think of is that it has to do with a licensing issue.

Sydnie, I've not heard of Hoopla before but I'll definitely be checking it out now. Thanks!
