I just recently picked up Brandon Turners book on Rental Property Investing and have been listening to the BiggerPockets pod cast daily.

From my walkthrough, I knew right away the big ticket items we needed were a new roof, new plumbing, new upgraded electrical, new garage doors, and new AC unit; along with the standard refinish of the interior. 

Just something to keep in mind.Another option, you can use FHA instead of VA as long as you meet the criteria: (7) Military Personnel Eligibility (a) Standard Borrowers who are military personnel, who cannot physically reside in a Property because they are on Active Duty, are still considered owner occupants and are eligible for maximum financing if a Family Member of the Borrower will occupy the subject Property as their Principal Residence, or the Borrower intends to occupy the subject Property upon discharge from military service.

Can anyone recommend me some great Beginners books on investing in multi family dwellings and house flips.

For a number of years we felt we weren’t in a position to invest in real estate and we always had good reasons/excuses, but after listening to and reading so many stories I can see that we really should have started earlier.I’ve been consuming as much material as possible the past several months from books, podcasts and blogs.
