https://www.biggerpockets.com/users/DavidGreene24 I don't know about SF specifically, but the way to do it in the peninsula or east bay is either buy a place with lots of bedrooms and rent out the extra rooms individually, or buy a place and then create a second unit - either convert the garage or build an ADU in the back yard, or both.
