Also, where the terminology comes in, if you're serving as a private lender that would typically imply that your name is not on the deed, rather in lieu of that your interests would be protected via a mortgage or Deed of Trust, depending on your state.

It serves a dual purpose - get the info, but also start to get to know the broker so when the time to purchase comes, you won't have to be looking for a good broker on top of everything else you'll need to get done.I saw the value of getting an accurate insurance quote when I was in the mortgage business.
