I just declined an applicant who were a family of 4 adults, parents and 2 children for a 650 sq ft $1700 2 bedroom.

My wife and I have been blessed with our first child and are quickly out growing our rental. 

I assume that your emplyment history might be the issue, so another way to fix this is have your parents co-sign with you.

Compared to the single 20 year old who lives at home with their parents making $50k per year.
