Hi again, sorry for the drive-by post...I know mostly about concrete, less about drywall so I can't point you towards any specific product.

I live in Mesa, which is close to Chandler, and I can see renting a home out for a season like to snow birds or possibly during baseball spring training but never would have expected weekend/weekly rentals as out performing traditional rentals with the high turn over and marketing costs.You have my curiosity,Casey

All of the suggestions above are in close proximity to train or metro stations and buses so giving easy access to the rest of the city.Good luck with your search! 

So I'm going to start driving and exploring other ways to find them but would appreciate some advice.How old is too old if a building is well kept up?

You lose the control you have when you are within one hour driving distance

You have to have your phone ringing to have a successful business.And isn't better than driving for dollars? 

After graduating I moved back to Oahu and knew I needed to get plugged into the local network here and get some hands on training.
