If you want to buy a bunch of units all over the place it could be beneficial to have them all managed through one company.I definitely think there are markets that you can buy in where STRs are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Even if you learn it in an atmosphere that is not necessarily real estate related it will be beneficial.

in your own home that's a choice, but not realistic in a rental.
