I’m no expert but I imagine rents in NC are much cheaper than Jersey, so if your income from pension is only slightly lower than your take home pay now, I don’t see it being a problem.

I can imagine the turnover rate is higher than normal and tenants are worse in those areas which creates a lot of headache.However, I think the $15,000 amount after every tenant leaves is probably an overestimation.

I’m brand new and learning as much as I can but.. we are currently in California and I can’t imagine working in this market for my first investment.While husband is deployed for 6 months we are thinking of looking for a home to buy in South Carolina where I’ll be staying during deployment..I know the area from living there 5 years before moving to CA. scenario #1VA loan to buy turn key, live in and rent out rooms.

I would imagine that it would help your house sell more quickly in Alabama your area.Where I live there would be fewer people who would be interested in the house and so it would take a little longer to sell.

We, too, were alarmed when discovering that Maryland is chock full of natural springs, so I can totally imagine the buyer walking, but they likely would have walked anyway unless the seller could prove exactly what was causing the water problem and that whatever remedy you used completely solved it with a long-term full warranty to back it up (and likely not even then).
