First - I think that competing directly with Angie's List, Yelp, etc. for global services such as contractors and sub-contractors would have limited lasting success.

Although not typically a fan of painted brick, We have painted the bricks on numerous houses, I can email you a couple examples if interested.You can also use a stone veneer, if you want to make some impact, we do this frequently with fireplaces.

I am just not a big fan of buying little properties if you are not local as it is very hard to control and manage the investment from far away.

I'm not a big fan of condos/townhomes because HOA/condo associations are unpredictable.If you haven't seen this video yet, check it out!

A couple people have said other places they looked at had water stains on the ceiling, chipped paint and all the fixtures looked old (most of mine are all new with ceiling fans in every bedroom) for around the same price.
