If the mentor has the capabilities and is not a rip off artist/guru, And the trainee has the abilities to follow through and apply, then yes.Being new, it is very difficult to understand who are the real players and who are the talkers/scammers.

As they said in Hockey, a good player goes where the puck is while a great player goes where the puck will be. 

It might take a few meetings to decipher who the real players are vs the wannabes, but it should get you going in the right direction.
